Kinshasa Set to Host Super Champion Cup Ahead of New Football Season
As the 2015–2016 football season prepares to kick off in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Kinshasa League has announced the organization of the Super Champion Cup, a local tournament set to take place from August 11 to 15 in the capital.
This pre-season competition will feature the champions of various urban football leagues across Kinshasa, bringing together top sides from the provincial and city leagues. Participating teams will represent the main zones of the capital, including Lipopo, Malebo, Tshangu, Plateau, Kilimani, and Lukunga.
The Super Champion Cup is designed to serve as a celebratory and competitive build-up to the main championship season, which is scheduled to begin on August 29, 2015. Trophies will be awarded to the respective champions of each participating league during the event.
The official draw for the competition is expected to take place prior to the tournament’s start, determining the fixtures for what promises to be a spirited display of Kinshasa’s local football talent.
This initiative aims to strengthen community-level football, promote healthy competition among the capital’s best teams, and provide a festive launchpad for the 2015–2016 season.
