Dortmund’s talks with Chelsea to sign Carney Chukwuemeka stall

Dortmund are no longer making progress in their pursuit of signing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old midfielder recently returned to Chelsea following Dortmund’s elimination from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl had hinted at the club’s interest in bringing Chukwuemeka back, but progress appears to have halted.

Speaking on the “London Is Blue Podcast,” journalist Matt Law shed light on the situation, stating:

“I’ve been told that Borussia Dortmund currently can’t or won’t pay the asking price for Carney Chukwuemeka. Therefore, talks are somewhat stalled.”

The exact fee Chelsea are demanding remains unclear. However, reports suggest that the previous purchase option agreed upon during the winter window was around €35 million.

With no deal currently on the table, Chukwuemeka’s future remains uncertain as Chelsea weighs their options ahead of the new season.
