Dortmund target Chelsea right-back Josh Acheampong as Bundesliga interest grows

Josh Acheampong, the English-Ghanaian right-back at Chelsea U21, is being linked with a move to Bundesliga club Dortmund.

The proposed switch would take the 20-year-old from Chelsea’s Premier League 2 set-up to Germany’s top flight. Acheampong’s current team is listed as Chelsea U21, while Dortmund are identified as the club interested in signing him.

Acheampong is valued at €25m, putting the reported interest in the context of a potentially significant investment by the German club. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the move remains at the rumour stage.

The defender’s Chelsea contract runs until 30 June 2029, meaning he is not approaching the end of his current deal. Any move would therefore require Dortmund to negotiate with Chelsea rather than wait for the player to become available as a free agent.

Acheampong’s dual English and Ghanaian nationality is also part of his profile, although no international involvement is attached to the transfer link. The rumour was recorded on 17 August 2026, with Dortmund’s interest focused on a Chelsea right-back who remains under contract for almost three more years.

For now, Acheampong remains registered with Chelsea U21 in Premier League 2, with his long-term Stamford Bridge contract still in place.
