Dortmund negotiating with Chelsea to sign Carney Chukwuemeka on a loan deal with option to buy
Borussia Dortmund are working on a deal to sign England midfielder of Nigerian descent, Carney Chukwuemeka.
According to sources, the German Bundesliga side is currently negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy from Chelsea.
It is understood that discussions between the two clubs are progressing positively, with Dortmund keen to bring in the talented 21-year-old as part of their squad strengthening for the upcoming season.
The potential agreement would include a purchase option valued between €20 million and €25 million.
Recent dealings between the two clubs, particularly the completed transfer of Jamie Gittens to Chelsea, have reportedly strengthened relations and increased optimism around reaching a swift agreement for Chukwuemeka.
However, a key stumbling block remains the midfielder’s salary. For the deal to materialise, Chelsea would likely need to subsidise a portion of his wages to align with Dortmund’s financial structure.
Chukwuemeka, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022, has shown glimpses of his potential but has struggled for consistent game time at Stamford Bridge.
Many believe a move to Dortmund for the upcoming season will give the midfielder a platform to get his career on track.
