Aubameyang Warned Over Spiderman Mask Celebration After German Super Cup
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s trademark Spiderman mask celebration may be under threat following his latest appearance in the German Super Cup. The Gabonese striker, who scored twice in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich, once again donned the mask after finding the net — a ritual he first popularized during his time at Saint-Étienne.
However, Borussia Dortmund manager Michael Zorc has issued a warning to the 25-year-old forward. “Once is not a problem. But if there is a yellow card, it is not funny. We don’t need that every week,” Zorc told reporters.
According to Bundesliga rules, players who cover their faces or heads with masks during celebrations risk receiving a warning or yellow card. With Aubameyang already cautioned, further mask-wearing celebrations could lead to disciplinary action.
For now, the striker may need to reconsider his iconic celebration to avoid costly bookings in future matches.
