Dominic Kanyi: German-Ghanaian striker leaves TuS Makkabi to become free agent
German-Ghanaian centre-forward Dominic Kanyi has left TuS Makkabi and become a free agent after his departure from the NOFV-Oberliga Nord side was confirmed on 14 July 2026.
The 22-year-old attacker, who stands at 1.95m and is comfortable using both feet, is now without a club following the end of his spell in Germany’s fifth tier. His exit from TuS Makkabi comes three years after he first stepped into senior football following a progression through Berlin-based youth systems.
Kanyi joined TuS Makkabi in August 2023 from Berliner AK’s under-19s, where he had moved on a free transfer the previous summer from TeBe Berlin’s youth set-up. His switch from youth to senior level kept him within the Berlin football scene, having previously represented TeBe Berlin at both under-17 and under-19 level.
Last season in the NOFV-Oberliga Nord, Kanyi made 22 appearances for TuS Makkabi, scoring once and providing one assist, accumulating 857 minutes of league football as a central striker. He also has experience in Germany’s U19 Bundesliga North/North East, where he scored four goals in 15 outings, as well as appearances in the Berliner Pokal.
Capable of leading the line through the middle, Kanyi’s blend of height and two-footed play has so far been deployed exclusively in attacking roles. Having now left TuS Makkabi, he is free to negotiate with interested clubs as he looks for the next step in his career.
