Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo has been appointed vice-chairman of the South African Football Association’s Technical Committee.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder was named to the role after SAFA’s newly elected National Executive Committee met in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Sunday.
The meeting was the first gathering of the new NEC since the association’s Elective Congress in Midrand on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan was re-elected for a fourth term at the congress. The NEC also elected Anastasia Tsichlas, Linda Zwane and Tankiso Modipa as vice-presidents, with the three officials set to serve for the next four years.
The appointments were confirmed by SAFA following what it described as an ordinary NEC meeting, during which members considered several matters affecting the organisation.
“Members elected new Vice Presidents, and also addressed various other important issues,” SAFA said in a statement.
Jordaan explained the process used to select the three vice-presidents, while the NEC also approved appointments to a number of the association’s other committees.
These included the Technical, Finance, Schools and Competitions committees, among others.
Khumalo’s appointment gives the former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana player a senior role in the body responsible for technical matters within South African football. He will serve as vice-chairman of the Technical Committee.
The latest appointments follow the changes made at the SAFA Elective Congress and complete the initial committee arrangements under the new NEC.
SAFA said the committee appointments formed part of the matters dealt with at the NEC’s first meeting after the election of the new leadership.
