Lyon are reportedly keeping a close eye on Djibril Sow, the 22-year-old Swiss midfielder of Senegalese descent, who currently plays for Young Boys of Bern. According to Le Team, Lyon’s scouts have monitored Sow on several occasions, with the club considering a potential summer move to bolster their midfield.
Sow could be targeted as a replacement for Tanguy Ndombele, who has attracted interest from top European clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, and PSG. The Swiss international has enjoyed a productive season with Young Boys, making 30 appearances across all competitions and contributing one goal and five assists.
A product of the FC Zurich youth academy, Sow moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach early in his career but struggled to break into the first team. His transfer to Young Boys in the summer of 2017 allowed him to establish himself as a key figure in midfield, demonstrating his versatility, technical ability, and tactical awareness.
His performances at club level earned him a place in the Swiss national team, and he made his international debut on September 8th during a 6-0 Nations League victory over Iceland in St. Gallen. Since then, he has earned four caps, signaling his rising profile in European football.
With Lyon looking to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season, Djibril Sow represents an attractive option: young, experienced at a high domestic level, and already gaining international exposure. Should Ndombele depart, Sow could be a key addition to OL’s squad as they aim to maintain competitiveness both domestically and in Europe.
