Djibril Bangoura: Guinea midfielder leaves Bordeaux and becomes a free agent

Guinea attacking midfielder Djibril Bangoura has left G. Bordeaux and is now a free agent after his contract with the French club came to an end. The 24-year-old, born in Conakry and comfortable in the number 10 role, officially departed on 24 July 2026.

Bangoura had only recently arrived at Bordeaux, joining them from US Saint-Malo at the start of the 2026-27 season on a free transfer. His latest move ends that short spell and places him on the market for interested clubs looking for a left-footed creator.

Before his brief stay in Bordeaux, Bangoura spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign with US Saint-Malo, having previously played for FC Versailles and Chateaubriant in the French lower leagues. His career has been built across National 1, National 2 and Ligue 3, where he has gained substantial experience in the attacking midfield role.

Across his time in French domestic competitions, Bangoura has featured heavily in National 1, making 74 appearances and scoring 19 goals, while also gaining exposure in the Coupe de France with 11 appearances and two goals. He has additionally played in multiple National 2 groups and Ligue 3, underlining his familiarity with the French football pyramid.

Standing at 1.75m and operating primarily as an advanced playmaker, Bangoura has also had spells with Brest’s reserve side and Chateaubriant earlier in his career as he developed in France. His departure from Bordeaux confirms his status as unattached ahead of the new season.
