Former Cameroonian international Eric Daniel Djemba-Djemba has officially inked a two-season deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv. After completing four seasons with Denmark’s Odense Boldklub, Djemba-Djemba, now a free agent, has chosen Tel Aviv as his new professional home.
The seasoned midfielder, who enjoyed a notable career with stints at clubs like Manchester United, Aston Villa, Burnley (on loan), Qatar SC, and Odense B, brings his wealth of experience to Hapoel Tel Aviv. The Israeli club, a prominent name in the local elite championship, recently secured the services of Ghanaian player John Paintsil. Hapoel Tel Aviv boasts an impressive record with 14 championship titles, 15 Israel Cups, and one Intertoto Cup (2002).
Trained in Nantes, the player affectionately known as “Canto” had been previously linked to a return to France in July. Despite receiving offers from several Ligue 1 teams, including Evian Thonon Gaillard and Nice, Djemba-Djemba has opted for a new chapter in his career with Hapoel Tel Aviv. With a two-year contract in his hands, the former international is poised to contribute to the success of his new team in the Israeli football scene.
