Bayer Leverkusen have made an offer to sign Djaoui Cissé, with the German club proposing a deal worth €20 million for the Rennes midfielder.

The 22-year-old, who is under contract with Stade Rennais FC until 2030, has emerged as a key target for Leverkusen as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

Leverkusen are currently viewed as frontrunners in the race to secure his signature, helped in part by existing links within their squad.

Both Martin Terrier and Loïc Badé, who previously played for Rennes, are already part of the German side, potentially strengthening the club’s position in negotiations.

Cissé’s representatives are said to be supportive of a move to Germany and are encouraging the player to consider the opportunity.

Discussions are centred around a permanent transfer, with the midfielder’s valuation understood to fall between €15 million and €20 million, including possible bonuses.

Despite the growing interest, the player’s priorities remain focused on finding the right sporting project. Cissé is reportedly seeking a club that can offer him consistent playing time and a clear pathway for development, as he looks to continue his progression at the highest level.

Known for his ability to operate as a box-to-box midfielder, Cissé has impressed with his work rate and ball recovery, contributing effectively across multiple areas of the pitch.

His performances this season have further enhanced his reputation, with the midfielder making 22 appearances in all competitions, accumulating a total of 959 minutes.

While Leverkusen appear well placed, competition from England is expected to intensify. West Ham United and Leeds United are preparing offers, while Aston Villa, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also monitoring his situation closely.

A move to the Bundesliga, particularly to a club competing in European competitions, could represent a significant step in Cissé’s career.

With interest building from across Europe, a decision on his future is expected before the upcoming European Under-21 Championship.
