Veteran Algerian defender Djamel Benlamri has officially signed with ES Mostaganem, bringing much-needed reinforcement to their struggling defense.
The 35-year-old joined the club on Thursday, January 2, after several months without a team, marking a pivotal return to competition for the seasoned center-back.
ES Mostaganem, currently 15th in the Ligue 1 standings with 12 points, has faced significant defensive woes, conceding 17 goals in just 14 matches. Benlamri’s arrival is expected to fortify the Greens and Whites’ backline as they battle to climb out of the relegation zone.
Boasting extensive experience in Algeria’s top flight, Benlamri has excelled at clubs such as NA Hussein Dey, JS Kabylie, Entente Sétif, and most recently, MC Alger, where he clinched the Ligue 1 title last season. His familiarity with the local league and proven leadership make him a crucial asset for Mostaganem’s survival campaign.
The club hopes Benlamri’s defensive expertise will inspire a turnaround in fortunes and provide the stability needed to revive their season.
