Evian-Thonon Hit by Injury to Djakaridja Koné
A blow for Evian-Thonon-Gaillard (ETG) as the club will have to do without Djakaridja Koné for the remainder of the year. The Burkinabe international midfielder has picked up a thigh injury and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
“Djakaridja Koné is expected to miss the last two matches of 2014 (…) The duration of his unavailability is estimated at three weeks,” ETG wrote on its official website.
Koné, who featured in the match against Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday, has been a regular starter this season, with 12 Ligue 1 appearances to his name.
Despite the injury, his participation in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Burkina Faso—scheduled from January 17 to February 8 in Equatorial Guinea—remains on track. The Stallions will be counting on the experienced midfielder as they aim to replicate their impressive 2013 run, where they finished as runners-up.
