Belgian Rising Star Divock Origi Set for Liverpool Move Following Impressive World Cup
One of the standout revelations of the 2014 World Cup has been Belgian striker Divock Origi. Born in Kenya but representing Belgium, the 19-year-old has attracted significant attention from European clubs after showcasing his talent on football’s biggest stage. Now, it appears England’s Liverpool FC is poised to secure his signature.
According to French sports daily La Voix du Nord, Liverpool and Origi’s current club Lille have agreed on a transfer fee estimated between €12 million and €14 million. The young forward is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Reds. However, as part of the deal, Origi would remain on loan at Lille for the upcoming season to continue his development.
“The requests for the young Belgian have come from all over Europe. Borussia Dortmund recently expressed interest, but Liverpool remain one step ahead. Origi should confirm the move soon,” La Voix du Nord reported.
Origi’s inclusion in the Belgian squad was a late decision by coach Marc Wilmots, but the young striker quickly made an impact. Initially used as a substitute in Belgium’s first three matches, Origi repeatedly injected energy and dynamism into the team. He scored the crucial goal that sealed Belgium’s qualification against Russia and played a key role in the match against South Korea, assisting the goal by Jan Vertonghen.
His performances against a defensively solid Algeria further underscored his attacking prowess, as his movement and creativity helped dismantle their organized backline. The Ostend native’s contributions have earned him widespread praise and raised expectations for his future career.
With Liverpool ready to bring Origi to Anfield, the club’s supporters eagerly anticipate the arrival of a promising talent who has already proven his ability to perform on the world stage. The Reds hope that, after another year of seasoning in Ligue 1, Origi will be ready to make his mark in the Premier League.
