National coach Walid Regragui had initially included Ryan Mmaee in his list of players to monitor during his European tour. However, a recent disciplinary setback has prompted a change of plans.
The alteration in the selection occurred due to Stoke City’s decision to impose sanctions on Ryan Mmaee. Approximately three weeks ago, the striker found himself relegated to the U21s after an altercation with his coach following a match against Sunderland.
It’s worth noting that Ryan Mmaee consistently received call-ups during the tenure of former coach Halilhodzic. However, since Walid Regragui assumed the coaching role, the player has not been part of the national team.
Despite this individual setback, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has affirmed its ongoing trust in Walid Regragui’s capabilities as the national team coach.
In an official statement, the FRMF expressed its commitment to providing the necessary support for the success of the national team.
FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa emphasized the importance of sustained efforts and investments to secure a prominent position for the Moroccan team in upcoming competitions, including the continuation of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in the Kingdom during the summer of 2025.
