Yann M’Vila Joins Dinamo Moscow as He Aims to Revive Career
Yann M’Vila has officially joined Dinamo Moscow, taking part in his first training session with the Russian club on Thursday. The 32-year-old midfielder, who has not seen action in a competitive match since January 6, 2023, is set to leave Rubin Kazan, with whom he has spent the last few years, in search of a fresh start.
M’Vila, once a regular fixture for the French national team, will now hope to reignite his career after a series of setbacks. His proposed move to Dinamo Moscow was originally set to materialize earlier this year. However, negotiations were delayed when the player encountered issues with Inter Milan, the club that held his registration. Despite both sides being eager to finalize the transfer, the deal was ultimately scuppered by the closure of Russia’s transfer window on March 7.
In an interview, a Dinamo Moscow official explained, “We didn’t have enough time to complete the loan. Negotiations were ongoing, but Inter’s delay in responding left us with no room to finalize the deal.”
Despite the failed attempt in the winter, M’Vila’s move to Dinamo Moscow has now come to fruition. The club, currently sitting fifth in the Russian Premier League, is looking to strengthen its midfield with the arrival of the former Rennes and Rubin Kazan star.
The transfer marks a new chapter for M’Vila, who has faced a rollercoaster career since his promising start at the beginning of the 2010s. With 22 international caps and a goal for France between 2010 and 2012, M’Vila was once viewed as one of Europe’s top midfield prospects. However, inconsistent form and off-field issues have hampered his progress in recent years.
Now, with a chance to rebuild his career, the Amiens-born player will be joined by French compatriot William Vainqueur at Dinamo Moscow. Both players will work together as the club awaits the return of another Frenchman, Mathieu Valbuena, who is currently with the national team.
As M’Vila looks to relaunch his career, all eyes will be on whether the dynamic midfielder can rediscover his best form at Dinamo Moscow and return to the level that once earned him a place in the French national squad.
