Dimitri Payet, who has been transferred to Olympique de Marseille for 10 million euros, is set to undergo a medical examination next week. The Reunion Islander’s wish for the move has been fulfilled, and the French international is eager to prove himself as one of the standout players in Ligue 1.
Having left Lille, Payet believes that Marseille is the ideal club for his progression and to fulfill the high expectations placed upon him. The tricolor is well aware that the Marseille fans are anticipating his arrival, and he acknowledges the need to swiftly demonstrate his abilities on the pitch.
“I feel expected. But that was already the case in Lille two years ago, after the LOSC double. At OM, each recruit must perform well straight away. I know what to expect. But challenges are my thing. The OM challenge is enormous. I will work to raise it,” explained Payet in an interview with L’Equipe.
