Samy Chouchane Nearing Contract Extension at Dijon

Dijon are close to agreeing a contract extension with Tunisian international Samy Chouchane after a season in which the midfielder played a key role in the club’s push for promotion.

The 21-year-old joined Dijon FCO last summer despite interest from several other European sides, choosing the French club as the next step in his development.

His decision has since been rewarded, with Dijon securing the National championship title and earning a return to Ligue 2 for the upcoming season.

Chouchane became an important part of the squad during the campaign, steadily establishing himself in the midfield rotation.

He ended the season with 29 appearances across all competitions, including 12 starts in the league, reflecting his growing influence within the team.

His performances have now prompted Dijon to move quickly to secure his long-term future. The club has already opened discussions over a contract extension, despite his current deal running until 2027.

The talks are understood to be part of Dijon’s wider plan to maintain stability within the squad following their promotion, with key players from the title-winning side being prioritised for new agreements.

Chouchane’s development over the course of the season has been viewed positively by the club’s technical staff, who see him as a valuable option for the step up to Ligue 2.

His ability to adapt to regular senior football has strengthened his position within the squad hierarchy.

While negotiations are still ongoing, the expectation is that both parties are aligned on continuing their collaboration beyond the current agreement.

The midfielder’s role in the promotion campaign has made him one of the club’s priority renewal cases.

Dijon will now look to finalise the extension as they prepare for life back in the second tier of French football, where squad continuity is expected to be a key factor in their plans for the new season.
