As Dijon FCO prepares to host Rennes this Saturday at the Gaston-Gérard Stadium for Matchday 14 of Ligue 1, coach Stéphane Jobard faces the absence of Congolese midfielder Glody Ngonda. The DFCO squad returns to domestic action following a two-week international break, with the team looking to build on recent performances.
The good news for Jobard is that the Dijon injury list is starting to clear. Defenders Fouad Chafik and Mickaël Alphonse will be available for selection against Rennes, providing reinforcements at the back. However, Ngonda remains sidelined due to a thigh injury he sustained during the club’s recent match against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Our long-term injured players, Jordan Marié and Nayef Aguerd, are still out. Glody Ngonda, who is suffering from a thigh injury sustained during the match against PSG, did not join the national team but is in the rehabilitation phase. He will miss this match. I hope to have him back next week,” Jobard confirmed.
Ngonda’s injury also caused him to miss the last international gathering with the Congolese national team, including the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Gambia (2-2) and Gabon (0-0). The midfielder is now focused on recovery and is expected to rejoin DFCO soon, giving the club a boost for upcoming fixtures in both Ligue 1 and future competitions.
