Dieumerci Mbokani is reportedly now the preferred target of UEFA anti-doping controllers. This comes after the Congolese striker missed two doping tests at Anderlecht due to negligence on the part of the club. The first instance occurred when Mbokani returned from a match with the Congolese national team and had to visit the hospital for a mask fitting due to a broken nose. UEFA controllers had visited Anderlecht’s training center on that occasion. The second instance involved Mbokani having to attend to his sick son, causing him to miss another doping test.
UEFA regulations stipulate that clubs must make arrangements to facilitate the work of anti-doping controllers. Anderlecht and its physiotherapist, responsible for the negligence, have already been fined. As a consequence, Mbokani can now expect more frequent and unexpected doping tests, even at his new club.
