Didier Six’s two-year contract as the head coach of the Togo national football team came to an end. Despite achieving the goal of qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and reaching the first round of the tournament, the overall results were mixed. Togo’s elimination from the 2014 World Cup, after initially being well-engaged, and difficulties in managing relationships with players and officials contributed to a less-than-complimentary coaching record. Six’s frequent threats of resignation and strained relations with players and leaders at the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) further marked his tenure. The FTF and the Ministry of Sports have not provided clarity on his future with the team.
