Didier Drogba’s future remains uncertain as the Ivorian striker weighs his options following the expiration of his contract with Turkish side Galatasaray. Speaking to the Turkish press on Friday, Drogba said, “So far, I am studying and analyzing the different offers I have received. My contract with Galatasaray has expired. I have to wait and see. One thing is certain, in a week, I will be able to explain everything about my future.”
Meanwhile, reports from the Daily Mail suggest a possible return to Chelsea could be on the horizon for the 36-year-old. Drogba, who famously starred for the London club under José Mourinho, is said to be keen on reuniting with the Portuguese manager, both as a player and in a coaching capacity.
With Chelsea having seen the departures of Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, and the expected exit of Romelu Lukaku, Mourinho is reportedly looking to bolster his attacking options. Bringing Drogba back could provide experience and leadership to support forwards Fernando Torres and Diego Costa.
The former Chelsea star’s potential comeback is also tied to a unique player-coach role that Mourinho may offer, combining on-field presence with mentoring duties.
Drogba is not lacking interest, however. Italian giants Juventus and several Qatari clubs have also expressed interest in securing his services.
The striker is expected to announce his decision within the next week, leaving fans and clubs alike waiting to see where the Ivorian legend will next take his career.
