In a lengthy interview with L’Equipe, Laurent Blanc, a member of the 1998 French World Cup-winning football team, revealed that his relationship with Didier Deschamps, the current coach of the French national team, has been strained.
Blanc expressed his perception that Deschamps might harbor some grievances, stating, “When, at a given moment, you think that someone is mad at you, it’s because you think that they perhaps have reasons to ‘want it, right?” He also mentioned that they won’t be spending their vacation together and highlighted the difficulty in explaining certain coincidences.
Blanc acknowledged meeting Deschamps once since the latter became the coach, and their interaction was marked by mutual respect. However, he noted that after this encounter, their relationship became publicly strained, leading to what Blanc describes as the declaration of war. The interview suggests complexities in their relationship that have become public knowledge
