The head coach of the France national team, Didier Deschamps has explained his decision to hand a senior call-up to Désiré Doué for the March international break.
The 19-year-old, born in France, is of Ivorian descent but has represented France at the youth national team level.
Amid his impressive form at PSG, Didier Deschamps has drafted him into his France squad for the upcoming games against Croatia in the Nations League quarter-finals.
Speaking on why he called up Désiré Doué, the coach said he believes the teenager has progressed a lot in the last few months and is ready for the senior national team.
“He has done everything good that there was to do. He has made a lot of progress,” said Deschamps.
The France head coach continued, “I could have called him up later, but he is ready.”
Désiré Doué is regarded as one of the top talents in France at the moment. He will hope to take his chance in the senior national team in the March international break.
