DIAFRA SAKHO: “I’M FOCUSED ON WEST HAM” DESPITE FRENCH INTEREST
In scorching form with West Ham United, Diafra Sakho continues to turn heads in the Premier League. The Senegalese striker—who idolizes Didier Drogba and sees himself as his heir—found the net again during the Hammers’ impressive win over Manchester City on Matchday 9.
Sakho’s explosive performances have fueled speculation about a potential call-up to the French national team, with some suggesting he may be on Didier Deschamps’ radar. But the player remains grounded and focused on his club duties.
“It’s flattering to hear that France can look at me, but I’m fully focused on West Ham and doing my best at the moment and nothing else,” Sakho told Goal UK.
Although he has previously been called up to Senegal’s national team for friendlies against Burkina Faso and Kosovo in May, Sakho is still eligible to play for France—should he choose to do so.
For now, his priority remains continuing his fine run of form in East London, where he’s fast becoming a fan favorite.
