Desire Doue says Paris Saint-Germain are determined to win everything again after Super Cup triumph

Paris Saint-Germain forward Desire Doue says the club remain hungry for more success after their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.

Doue scored the winning goal as Paris Saint-Germain lifted the trophy for a second consecutive season, following their victory against Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.

“It is great to win this title,” Doue, who was named as the match-winner, told TNT Sports.

The France international added: “It was extremely difficult. Before that, we had to win the Champions League again, and for the second time we won the Super Cup.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave Paris Saint-Germain the lead in the 20th minute, but Aston Villa levelled through Brian Madjo shortly before half-time.

Doue restored the French side’s advantage in the 61st minute, securing another major trophy for manager Luis Enrique and his squad.

“We are always hungry to win and we always want more,” said Doue. “After the Champions League final, we wanted more and we have big ambitions.”

He added: “We are a young team and we want to win everything again this season.”

Paris Saint-Germain won last season’s Super Cup against English side Tottenham on penalties. The latest triumph means the club have retained the trophy and continued their run of success under Enrique.

The victory was the 13th trophy of Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain career, from 16 competitions contested during his time in charge of the French capital club.

Paris Saint-Germain have also won the last two editions of the Champions League. Their back-to-back European titles leave them one short of matching the historic record held by Real Madrid.

The final was refereed by Somalia’s Omar Artan, who became the first non-European official to take charge of a UEFA Super Cup match.

Artan had previously been left out of the 2026 World Cup after United States authorities refused to grant him a visa to enter the country, despite the official having already arrived at the airport.

UEFA decided to compensate Artan for his exclusion from the World Cup by appointing him to referee the Super Cup.

For Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, the defeat represented a fourth loss in a UEFA Super Cup final. Emery had previously appeared in the 2014, 2015 and 2021 editions, as well as the 2026 final, and lost all four matches.

Paris Saint-Germain’s latest success further underlines their ambition to compete for every available honour this season, with Doue insisting that the club’s young squad is not satisfied with its previous achievements.
