Derby consider move for Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo

Arthur Okonkwo, the Nigeria and England-qualified goalkeeper at Wrexham, has been linked with a move to Derby in the Championship.

The 24-year-old is currently contracted to Wrexham, with his deal running until 30 June 2027. Okonkwo joined the club permanently from Arsenal in July 2024 on a free transfer after spending the previous season on loan at Wrexham.

He has made no appearance in Wrexham’s EFL Cup campaign this season, having been named in the squad for one possible match. The goalkeeper’s current market value is listed at €5m.

Okonkwo began his senior career with Arsenal and also had a loan spell at Austria’s Sturm Graz, where he won the Austrian Cup in 2023. He returned to Wrexham for the 2023-24 season and was part of the squad that secured promotion to the third tier before completing his permanent move.

Derby and Wrexham are both competing in the Championship, meaning any potential transfer would be a move between clubs in the same division. No agreement has been confirmed, and the reported interest comes with Okonkwo still tied to Wrexham for another season beyond the current campaign.
