Barcelona sporting director Deco has offered glowing praise for rising star Lamine Yamal, highlighting the teenager’s intelligence, rapid development, and growing experience at the top level.
Speaking about the young winger, Deco framed his progress within a broader reflection on growth and learning in football and in life.
“In life, we are all constantly learning. Everyone has their own story and experience, and that is what helps you improve. Sometimes you progress more, sometimes less, but it is all part of the process. The mind also follows its own path, full of challenges,” Deco said.
He went on to explain that Yamal enjoys a “big advantage” because “he is very intelligent, he already has a lot of experience and has learned a great deal” and that the youngster “picks things up very quickly.”
Deco stressed that despite Yamal’s impressive maturity, expectations must remain realistic.
“We cannot pretend that at 18 a footballer knows everything. That is where our job comes in to guide him and help him with certain aspects,” he added, underlining Barcelona’s responsibility to support Yamal’s development on and off the pitch.
