Kevin De Bruyne says Belgium’s approach under Dutch manager Mark van Bommel suits him perfectly after their 3-0 victory over Turkey in the third round of the Nations League group stage.
The Napoli midfielder said he was enjoying his football and believed Belgium had made a strong start despite facing difficult opposition.
“I feel good. The way we play football suits me perfectly,” De Bruyne told reporters. “We have made a good start in difficult matches and we will try to build on that.”
De Bruyne also said he wanted to set an example for Belgium’s younger players and remained confident he could contribute to the team.
“I try to be a role model for the young players,” he added. “They are following that smoothly. I feel I am still able to make a difference and contribute. I enjoy my time on the pitch, and that is the most important thing.”
However, the Napoli player will miss Belgium’s next match against France in the fourth round of the competition because of suspension for an accumulation of cards.
De Bruyne was booked in matches against France and Turkey.
Belgium are second in the group with six points, while Turkey are bottom without a point.
