Dayot Upamecano has signaled his openness to extending his stay at Bayern Munich, where he has become a cornerstone under coach Vincent Kompany.
The French defender’s current contract with the German champions runs until the summer of 2026, but his commitment to the team’s ambitions and his satisfaction with life in Munich hint at a prolonged partnership.
“I still have time. But I’m very satisfied. With the development, with our team, with the relationship with Vincent Kompany. I hope that it continues!” Upamecano shared in an interview with “Bild” newspaper.
In the ongoing 2024/25 season, the 25-year-old has made 24 competitive appearances for Bayern, scoring twice. His journey with the club began on 14 February 2021, when Bayern announced his signing on a five-year deal effective 1 July 2021. The transfer saw the club activate his €42.5 million release clause from RB Leipzig. Upamecano debuted in a pre-season friendly against 1. FC Köln and made his competitive debut in a 1–1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on the Bundesliga’s opening day.
The Frenchman netted his first Bayern goal in December 2021, heading in a Thomas Müller cross during a dominant 4–0 win over VfL Wolfsburg. Now, he’s looking to add more memories to an already impressive tenure.
