Dayot Upamecano maintain interest in move to Real Madrid amid Bayern Munich’s contract talks

French defender of Guinean-Bissau descent, Dayot Upamecano, is reportedly keen on moving to Real Madrid next summer.

Upamecano, who is of Guinea-Bissau descent, is under contract with Bayern until 2026. However, according to reports from Spain, renewing that deal is not currently a priority for the 26-year-old centre-back.

Spanish outlet Marca (via fussballtransfers.com) claims that Upamecano has already instructed his agent to explore the possibility of a move to Los Blancos.

The Bayern star has long been linked with Real Madrid, and with his contract situation unresolved, the Spanish giants are monitoring developments closely.

Comparisons have already been drawn with David Alaba’s free transfer switch from Munich to Madrid in 2021.

That said, Upamecano is not the only defensive reinforcement under consideration for Real Madrid. Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract also runs until 2026, is viewed as another concrete target.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich remain intent on tying Upamecano down to a new deal.

Although talks with the representatives of Upamecano have been ongoing for a while, Bayern Munich officials have not been able to secure an agreement.
