Dayot Upamecano has left France’s training camp and returned to Germany after being suspended for Monday’s match against Belgium.
The Bayern Munich defender was sent off during France’s 1-1 draw with Italy on Friday after receiving a second yellow card. As a result, he is unavailable for the next game.
Upamecano had produced an impressive performance for 80 minutes before enduring a difficult closing period following his dismissal. He returned to France’s base in Clairefontaine with his team-mates late on Friday evening.
However, with his suspension preventing him from taking part against Belgium, France’s management decided to release him and place him at the disposal of Bayern Munich, according to an official statement.
His departure means France have lost another player during the current international camp. Kylian Mbappe and Ibrahima Konate, both of Real Madrid, had already withdrawn from the squad because of injury.
The latest absence leaves France without Upamecano for their meeting with Belgium, after the defender’s red card brought an early end to his involvement in the camp.
