Dayot Upamecano expected miss France’s crucial Nations League semifinal against Spain in June

France international of Guinea-Bissau descent Dayot Upamecano is expected to miss the upcoming Nations League semifinals against Spain.

In a highly competitive clash on June 5, 2025, France will lock horns with the Spanish national team, to be held in Stuttgart.

The Bayern Munich defender picked up an injury during the March international break and has since not returned to action. Upamecano had played the full 120 minutes against Croatia, and even scored the winning goal to set up the semi-final meeting with Spain.

With his recovery delaying, Upamecano, who has Guinea-Bissau root will likely miss the crucial semifinals against Spain.

Bayern had been confident that, following successful arthroscopic surgery, the centre-back would be back before the end of the season. However, he has yet to be included in a matchday squad.

Upamecano is racing against time to recuperate before Didier Deschamps announces his squad list on May 21, 2025 for the game.
