David Ngog makes a return to the Premier League, signing with Swansea as announced last week. The Franco-Cameroonian striker, once a promising talent at PSG, is back in a league where he previously played with Liverpool, netting 19 goals in 94 appearances. However, for the past three years, he plied his trade in the Championship with Bolton.
Ngog joins the Swans on a six-month deal, having seen his contract with Bolton expire in June 2014. Michael Laudrup, Swansea’s manager at the time, prioritized his signing to bolster the team’s attack, which was lacking depth with only two forwards: Ivorian Wilfried Bony and Spaniard Vasquez, especially with Michu sidelined.
During his time at Bolton, Ngog found the net 8 times in 31 matches since August 2011. He has long been sought after by the Fecafoot (Cameroon Football Federation) and boasts an impressive record of 24 goals in 46 appearances for the French U16 and U20 national teams.
