avid Alaba’s tough return to form has been cut short by another setback. Real Madrid confirmed the Austrian defender has suffered a torn meniscus, just months after battling back from a long-term knee injury.
Alaba had only resumed full training with Los Blancos in January, following a cruciate ligament tear in December 2023 that sidelined him for over a year. Since returning, he featured in 14 matches, playing the full 90 minutes on three occasions, as Madrid gradually reintroduced him to top-level action.
The latest injury occurred during the match against Getafe on April 23, when Alaba left the pitch early. Initial assessments suggested the problem was not severe, and he even traveled with the team for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, although he remained an unused substitute.
Now, Madrid have confirmed a torn meniscus, casting doubt over Alaba’s availability for the remainder of the season. The club has yet to specify how long the 31-year-old will be out, but another extended absence seems likely.
