Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna found the net as APOEL Nicosia battled to a 2-2 draw against Anorthosis in a tense Cyprus League Round 21 encounter on Monday.
Abagna struck in the 30th minute, latching onto a well-placed pass to fire APOEL ahead. However, the hosts responded swiftly, with Rafael Lopes equalizing in the 41st minute before Konstantinos Chrysopoulos turned the game around three minutes later, sending Anorthosis into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
APOEL pressed for an equalizer after the break, and Youssef El Arabi delivered in the 53rd minute, finishing clinically to restore parity. Abagna, who put in a lively shift, was substituted in the 58th minute for Stefan Drazic.
The game remained fiercely contested, with late drama unfolding in stoppage time. Anastasios Donis and Konstantinos Galanopoulos both saw yellow in the dying moments, but neither side could find a winner.
The draw leaves APOEL focused on their next challenge against Apollon Limassol on February 8. Abagna, with two goals in 19 league appearances, continues to impress in Cyprus.
