Daryll Benlahlou: Franco-Algerian striker joins Montpellier on loan from Lyon B

Montpellier have added Franco-Algerian centre-forward Daryll Benlahlou to their squad, signing the 20-year-old on loan from Olympique Lyonnais B for the 2026-27 season.

The right-footed attacker, born in Givors on 23 May 2006, links up with the Ligue 2 side after progressing through Lyon’s academy structure. His loan to Montpellier runs until 30 June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to the National 2 club.

Benlahlou has been a regular across Lyon’s youth and reserve teams in recent seasons, featuring at Under-17, Under-19 and B-team level. Last term he played in National 2 Group H and National 3 Group I, as well as youth competitions including the Premier League International Cup at Under-21 level.

A centre-forward by trade, Benlahlou has shown an eye for goal in French youth football, scoring 13 times in 31 appearances in the National U19 Group B and adding 10 goals and four assists in 24 National 2 Group H outings. He has also taken part in the Coupe Gambardella and National U19 finals phase.

Having first joined Lyon’s youth ranks from Cascol as a youngster in 2015, Benlahlou has spent more than a decade with the club’s academy before making this first senior loan move.

Benlahlou will now spend the 2026-27 campaign with Montpellier, who have secured him on a season-long loan from Olympique Lyonnais B.
