Darlin Yongwa becomes free agent target for European clubs

Cameroon international left-back Darlin Yongwa has become a sought-after free agent in the transfer market following the end of his contract with FC Lorient, with several European clubs now competing for his signature.

The 24-year-old, who can operate both defensively and in more advanced roles down the left flank, has attracted attention from clubs in Turkey and France after leaving the Ligue 1 side. His availability on a free transfer has further increased interest in his services.

In Turkey, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor are both actively monitoring the situation, with the two Süper Lig sides understood to be keen on strengthening their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Both clubs are reported to value Yongwa’s energy, versatility and experience at top-flight level.

The competition for his signature is not limited to Turkey, however, as French club OGC Nice are also closely tracking the player. The Ligue 1 side view him as a potential solution to reinforce their left side after a season that fell below expectations.

Yongwa’s profile is seen as particularly appealing given his consistent performances in France and his growing experience at international level with Cameroon.

His ability to contribute both defensively and in attacking phases has made him an attractive option for clubs seeking a modern full-back.

During his time at FC Lorient, Yongwa reportedly earned an annual salary of around €640,000, and he is currently valued at approximately €5 million on the transfer market.

In the 2025/26 season, he made 25 appearances across all competitions, registering one assist and accumulating 1,455 minutes of playing time.

With interest growing from multiple leagues, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive as Yongwa evaluates his next move.

Whether he chooses a switch to Turkey or remains in France, the defender is expected to prioritise regular playing time and a project that supports his continued development.

As a free agent with top-flight experience and international pedigree, Yongwa represents one of the more intriguing defensive options available in the current transfer window.
