Danny Namaso has received his first-ever call-up to the Cameroon national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The 24-year-old FC Porto striker will join the Indomitable Lions for their upcoming matches against Eswatini and Libya.
The long-awaited selection comes after months of speculation surrounding Namaso’s international future.
His inclusion was confirmed by FC Porto on Friday, March 7, although the official squad list from Cameroon is yet to be announced.
“Danny Namaso makes his debut in the Cameroon national football team.
The 24-year-old forward has been selected by Marc Brys for the matches against Eswatini (March 19) and Libya (March 25), corresponding to the fifth and sixth days of Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,” the Portuguese club announced via its official channels.
Namaso, who previously represented England at youth levels from U16 to U20, had been widely regarded as part of the English setup.
However, the forward had not progressed to the senior team, prompting his decision to switch allegiance to Cameroon — the country of his heritage.
Despite not being a regular starter at FC Porto, Namaso has made 33 appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist across 17 starts.
His consistent performances have earned him recognition, and he will now have the opportunity to showcase his talents on the international stage.
Cameroon will face Eswatini on March 19 before meeting Libya on March 25 as they seek to strengthen their position in Group D of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
