Danish midfielder of Ghanaian descent Nikolas Nartey has been linked with a move to German outfit FC Köln this summer.
The midfielder is currently contracted to German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, but his deal is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
Sources have revealed that some officials of FC Köln are considering a move to sign Nikolas Nartey on a free transfer.
Nartey missed the entire 2023/24 season due to persistent knee issues and has recently featured for Stuttgart’s amateur side in the 3. Liga.
Despite his return to training, it appears Stuttgart has no intention of offering a contract extension. German outlet Bild reports that the club does not plan to retain the midfielder beyond the summer.
As a result, a move for Nartey will be in his interest in the summer window to provide a clean slate for him to revive his career.
A move to Köln would mark a return to familiar territory for Nartey, who joined the club from FC Copenhagen in 2017 with high expectations.
The player and his representatives will assess his options at the end of the season to determine the best move for him.
