Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has signed a contract extension with the Nigerian football club, securing his position as head of technical management until 2027. Ogunmodede, who was initially contracted until 2025, has been rewarded with a lucrative new deal after leading the Sky Blue Stars to consecutive second-place finishes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Ogunmodede’s leadership has not only propelled Remo Stars to domestic success but has also positioned them on the continental stage for the third time.

Under his guidance, the club has achieved remarkable consistency, and the management is optimistic about the future with him at the helm.

“For us at Remo Stars, we are happy that he is still here,” said Adedoyin Ogungbefun, CEO of Remo Stars, in a statement celebrating the contract extension.

“He has done a great job, and we hope he can do even better. That is why we are extending his contract.

His work rate and professionalism are exceptional, and we look forward to a fruitful time together.”

Ogunmodede, visibly pleased with the new contract, expressed his gratitude for the club’s recognition of his efforts.

“To say I am happy is an understatement. I am happy that the club has seen what I have achieved so far and has deemed me worthy of an extension.

It is a big motivation for me,” he said.

The 44-year-old coach is not resting on his laurels; instead, he is setting new, ambitious goals for the future.

“My thanks go, of course, to my staff and players; without their empathy and friendship, this would not have been possible.

I love my players, and it’s a pleasure to know that we will be together for at least the next three years,” Ogunmodede added.

“The goal is to win the championship and go far on the continental scene.”

Ogunmodede’s journey with Remo Stars began in 2016 when he joined the club as an assistant coach.

His coaching career took a brief international turn in 2021 when he served as an assistant coach at Portuguese side Feirense.

However, he returned to Nigeria in 2022 to take up the head coach role at Remo Stars, where he has since made a significant impact.

The extended contract comes at a crucial time for Remo Stars, as they prepare to compete in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

On Sunday, August 18, Ogunmodede will lead his team in a crucial first-leg match against Moroccan side AS FAR.

The upcoming fixture is a testament to the club’s progress under his management and represents a significant opportunity for the team to showcase their talents on the continental stage.

With Ogunmodede’s contract extension, Remo Stars are clearly signaling their intent to build on their recent successes and aim for even greater heights in the coming years.

The coach’s renewed commitment to the club and his ambitious vision for the future have set the stage for an exciting era for the Sky Blue Stars.
