The UNFP (Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels), the players’ union, has come to the defense of Cyril Jeunechamp, a Montpellier player who was suspended for a year by the French Professional Football League. Jeunechamp received the suspension for hitting a journalist from L’Equipe on November 17. The union considers the one-year suspension as a severe measure that prevents him from working for an extended period, and they find the sanction disproportionate.
