Cypriot coach Nicodemus Papavasiliou has expressed his disappointment following his sacking as head coach of Egyptian club Al-Ittihad Alexandria.
The club decided to sever ties with the Cypriot coach following a string of unimpressive results.
As a result, the club has settled on Talaat Youssef as Papavasiliou’s successor until the end of the current season.
Reacting to his sacking, Papavasiliou said, “It was an honor for me to work with Ittihad Club, and I would like to extend special thanks to President Mohamed Moselhy for giving me this opportunity.”
“Our relationship of respect and friendship will certainly continue beyond football. We have built a well-organised and strong team that has challenged our opponents in every game we have played,”
“I leave the club and the team three points behind fourth place in the table, with many games still to play.”
He continued, “I am very disappointed with the premature decision taken without completing the project we started at the beginning of the season, a project that I believe deserved more time to fully realise our potential and achieve our goals.”
He concluded: “I thank the players and the technical staff that I have worked with during this period. It was a fantastic group with great potential, committed to the values we have instilled and to the journey we have started together”
