The first day of the African Cycling Championship in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, featured Eritrea’s victory in the team time trial. Led by cyclist Daniel Teklehaimanot, the Eritrean team secured the top spot, completing the 42.4 km Ouaga 2000 circuit in 51 minutes and 51 seconds, with an average speed of 49.06 km/h.
Under the challenging heat, Eritrea dominated the race, leaving no room for hope for the 14 African countries participating in the competition. Throughout the course, the Eritrean cyclists consistently held the lead, showcasing their strength and teamwork.
The African Cycling Championship, taking place in Burkina Faso for the first time, is scheduled from November 7 to 11, 2012. The competition, featuring 14 countries, emphasizes the women’s race, highlighting the significance of gender inclusion in cycling.
