SEYDOU DOUMBIA LINKED WITH NEWCASTLE UNITED MOVE THIS WINTER
Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia could be set for a Premier League switch as Newcastle United reportedly eye a winter move to bolster their attack.
Currently with CSKA Moscow, Doumbia is under contract until 2016, but his time in Russia may be nearing its end. According to reports, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is keen on the powerful forward, hoping his addition can help lift the Magpies from the relegation zone, where they find themselves after a dismal start to the season.
With the January transfer window approaching, Doumbia — known for his pace, strength, and consistent goal-scoring in the Russian league — could be an ideal solution for Newcastle’s scoring woes. However, he’s not the only name on the club’s radar; a potential return of Andy Carroll (currently at West Ham) is also being considered.
If a move materializes, it would mark Doumbia’s first stint in the English Premier League, a step up many have long expected for the talented Ivorian international.
