Paulo Duarte Dismisses Exit Rumours, Commits to CS Sfaxien
Club Sportif Sfaxien head coach Paulo Duarte has firmly denied rumours linking him with an imminent departure from the Tunisian club. Speaking at a press conference, the Portuguese manager refuted widespread reports suggesting he was in contact with foreign clubs — including Egyptian giants Al Ahly — and reaffirmed his commitment to honouring his contract with Sfaxien, which runs until June 2016.
“I am still here, focused on my mission,” Duarte stated, seeking to quash speculation about his future. “There are always rumours in football, but I have a contract and respect it.”
The rumours had gained traction in recent days, with some media outlets claiming that Duarte was in advanced talks with other clubs and preparing to leave Sfax. In response, Duarte was unequivocal in clarifying that no such discussions had taken place.
Despite his denial, speculation has continued to swirl behind the scenes. According to sources, CS Sfaxien’s management is said to be considering alternative coaching options, reportedly initiating informal contact with Luc Eymael, the Belgian coach recently released by Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise.
For now, however, Duarte remains in charge of the southern Tunisian outfit, as they continue to pursue both domestic and continental ambitions.
