Crystal Palace keep close eye on Chrislain Matsima

Chrislain Matsima has attracted Premier League attention, with Crystal Palace adding the FC Augsburg defender to their list of potential summer signings.

The 24-year-old centre-back is one of several candidates the London club are evaluating as they look to strengthen their back line ahead of the new season.

According to Sky Sports, there have been no formal talks or concrete offers so far. Instead, Palace are in a scouting phase, assessing different options for the heart of their defence. Matsima has been a key player for Augsburg whenever fully fit since joining the club and is tied down on a long-term contract, with his market value currently estimated at 22 million euros by Transfermarkt.

Despite the growing interest, Matsima recently underlined that he is not pushing for a move. “For the moment I am in Augsburg and I don’t want to think too much about the future. I am fully focused on the club here,” he told the Augsburger Allgemeine.

He added that constant transfer rumours are simply part of modern football and that things can change very quickly. With even Bayern Munich having previously made enquiries, Augsburg appear relaxed, confident they can plan the season with him unless a major offer arrives.
