Crystal Palace in advanced talks to sign Chrislain Matsima from Augsburg
Crystal Palace are edging closer to the signing of FC Augsburg centre-back Chrislain Matsima after talks between the clubs moved into an advanced stage.
Augsburg recently rejected a second official bid of €25 million from the Premier League side, but fresh negotiations on Monday have brought the deal nearer to completion.
According to Sky, the clubs are now ironing out the final details, including the payment structure and potential bonuses. The total package for the 24-year-old French defender is expected to exceed €30 million if an agreement is reached. While the transfer is taking clearer shape, it has not yet been fully signed off, and Augsburg have not given Matsima permission to travel to England for a medical at this stage.
For now, the defender remains in Augsburg and continues his usual routine, awaiting the green light to make the move. Once the last contractual points are settled, he is expected to complete the step into the Premier League and bolster Palace’s back line.
For Augsburg, the fee would represent another strong piece of business from a club long praised for maximizing its resources.
