Crystal Palace favourites to sign French-Cameroonian defender Sacha Boey
Crystal Palace have emerged as the frontrunners to secure the signature of French-born defender of Cameroonian descent, Sacha Boey, with the Premier League club eyeing reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
According to The Evening Standard, Palace are weighing up a move for the right-back, who is currently on the books of Bayern Munich.
After a relatively low-key summer in the transfer market, the London side are expected to adopt a more aggressive approach when the winter window opens.
The potential move is being driven by concerns in Palace’s right-back department. Manager Oliver Glasner is keen to strengthen that area of the squad, with Daniel Muñoz struggling to stay fit in recent periods, while experienced defender Nathaniel Clyne is set to depart at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Boey joined Bayern from Galatasaray in January 2024 but has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter in Germany. The 25-year-old has been limited to just five Bundesliga starts this season, a situation that has sparked growing speculation about a possible move away despite being under contract with the Bavarian club until 2028.
Crystal Palace are understood to be among several Premier League sides keeping a close watch on Boey’s situation.
Any potential deal could be aided by the existing relationship between the two clubs, who were in discussions over the transfer of Michael Olise in 2024.
Glasner is also believed to enjoy a strong working relationship with Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, a factor that may help smooth negotiations if talks progress.
