Crystal Palace close in on Axel Disasi as Chelsea agree paid loan
Axel Disasi is set to undergo a medical with Crystal Palace on Monday afternoon as he moves closer to leaving Chelsea on loan.
The 28-year-old Franco-Congolese defender is expected to complete the examination with the Eagles before finalising his move to the London club, according to Foot Mercato.
Chelsea and Crystal Palace have already reached an agreement for Disasi to join Palace on a paid loan. The deal does not include an option for the Eagles to buy the player permanently.
Disasi joined Chelsea in 2023 after establishing himself at Monaco and is now poised to begin another chapter in the Premier League. His proposed move to Crystal Palace would keep him in English football, where he has continued adapting since his arrival from France.
The defender spent last season on loan at West Ham. His time with the Hammers gave him the opportunity to play more regularly after a difficult period at Chelsea, where competition for places prevented him from securing a consistent starting role.
Crystal Palace would offer Disasi another chance to revive his career and establish himself in the Premier League. The club would gain a defender with considerable top-level experience, strong physical qualities and the versatility to operate within different defensive systems.
Disasi remains under contract at Chelsea until 30 June 2029. His annual salary is reported to be 4,805,403 euros, equivalent to 3,123,511,950 FCFA, while his estimated market value stands at 15m euros.
The move comes shortly before Chelsea’s opening match of the English league season, when they are due to face Fulham. Disasi’s departure would reduce the defensive options available to Chelsea for that fixture, although his future had already become uncertain because of the competition for places at Stamford Bridge.
For the Chelsea-Fulham match, the betting company 1xBet lists Chelsea as favourites at odds of 1.80. A draw is priced at 3.90, while Fulham are offered at 4.15.
